Copywriting + Marketing Consulting For Professional Service Businesses

Last week, my son was off from school for Presidents Day (yet another in a seemingly endless parade of days off from school!?)

Anyway, his best friend came over Sunday night for a sleepover. But the poor kid started to feel sick and wound up calling his Mom for early pick-up first thing Monday morning. Turns out he had strep throat and missed an entire week of school. Fortunately, none of us caught the bug.

The next day at school, in my son’s history class, his teacher spun the prize wheel. All the student’s names are on the wheel. And whoever’s name the ticker lands on wins a prize.

The wheel’s first spin landed on the name of my son’s best friend. He was out sick, so the next spin landed on my son’s name! And he won a gift certificate for half a dozen hot wings from WingStop.

This is 100% a case of…

“Right place, right time.”

If my son’s best friend hadn’t fallen ill, or if my son had caught the same bug — He would have lost out on the hot wings gift certificate.

Marketing For Professional Services Often Works the Same Way

When your latest Email Newsletter lands in prospects’ inbox the same day they have a specific need your services can fulfill, you’re in the right place at the right time.

It doesn’t matter that you’ve shown up there every week for the last however many years. What matters is that you were there on that DAY.

Similarly, you may have an expertly SEOed (Search Engine Optimized) your website. But until a prospect goes looking for your services, they won’t find you. Meanwhile, the fact that you invested in SEO ensured when your prospect looked, you were there.

Same goes for establishing a presence on social media. Prospects may typically breezily scroll past your updates, shares, and ads. Until they have a problem your services can solve. And once again, there you are.
